These Protein Donuts are soft, fluffy, and packed with chocolate flavor, making them a delicious and healthier alternative to traditional donuts. Made with protein powder, peanut butter, and natural sweeteners, they are perfect for a quick breakfast or snack that satisfies your sweet tooth while keeping you energized.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup flour (90g)
  • 1/4 cup chocolate protein powder (30g)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder (10g)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter or any nut or seed butter (120g)
  • 1/3 cup water (80g)
  • 1/4 cup yogurt or mashed banana (60g)
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup or honey (60g)

Toppings

  • Frosting or additional toppings as desired

Instructions

  1. Prepare pan and preheat oven: Grease a donut pan or a mini muffin pan for donut holes to prevent sticking. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) ensuring it reaches the right temperature for even baking.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined. This ensures even distribution of leavening agents and flavor.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Stir in the peanut butter, water, yogurt or mashed banana, and maple syrup or honey into the dry ingredients until you form a smooth and consistent batter without lumps.
  4. Fill the pan: Evenly smooth the batter into the prepared donut pan or muffin pan, filling each cavity about three-quarters full for proper rising and shape.
  5. Bake the donuts: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 8 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out mostly clean, indicating they are cooked through but remain moist and fluffy.
  6. Cool and remove: Allow the donuts to fully cool in the pan to set their shape. Carefully run a knife around the edges of each donut before gently removing them from the pan.
  7. Add toppings and serve: Decorate with frosting or your desired toppings, then enjoy your soft, protein-rich donuts as a nutritious treat.

Notes

  • You can substitute yogurt with mashed banana to keep the donuts moist and add natural sweetness.
  • Use any nut or seed butter of your choice if you want to vary the flavor.
  • Be careful not to overbake to maintain the soft and fluffy texture.
  • These donuts are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Adjust sweetness by choosing maple syrup or honey according to preference.
