These Easy Oreo Cake Balls are a delightful no-bake treat combining crushed Oreo cookies with cream cheese, coated in smooth white chocolate candy melts. Perfectly bite-sized and rich, they make a simple yet elegant dessert or snack that requires minimal ingredients and effort.

Ingredients

Oreo Mixture

  • 24 Oreos
  • 4 oz softened cream cheese

Coating

  • 10 oz white candy melts (Ghirardelli brand)
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream (optional, to thin candy melts)

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Finely crush the Oreos using a food processor or by placing them in a sealed zip-top bag and crushing with a rolling pin. Transfer the Oreo crumbs to a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix with cream cheese: Add the softened cream cheese to the Oreo crumbs. Mix thoroughly with a spoon or spatula until a cohesive mixture forms that holds its shape when squeezed. Add additional cream cheese by the teaspoon if the mixture is too dry.
  3. Form cake balls: Scoop out 1-inch portions of the mixture and roll them into smooth, compact balls. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 15-20 minutes until firm.
  4. Melt candy melts: Melt white candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. If the melted candy is too thick, thin it by stirring in heavy cream one teaspoon at a time.
  5. Dip cake balls: Dip each chilled cake ball into the melted candy melts, coating them thoroughly using a fork or dipping tool. Return excess coating to the bowl. Place the coated balls back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Set coating: Allow the cake balls to set at room temperature for 10-15 minutes, or until the coating firms up. For extra decoration, drizzle with additional melted candy melts or dark chocolate if desired.
  7. Chill to firm: Chill the cake balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to fully set the coating and firm up the treats. Serve them at room temperature for the best texture.

Notes

  • You can crush Oreos manually if you don’t have a food processor.
  • If the candy melts are too thick after melting, add heavy cream gradually to achieve a smooth dipping consistency.
  • For added flair, decorate cake balls with sprinkles or drizzle with dark chocolate.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Allow cake balls to come to room temperature before serving so the flavors are more pronounced.
