Ingredients

Crust and Filling

  • 1 package (15 count) frozen phyllo cups
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries, finely chopped
  • 2 jalapeños, seeded and minced
  • 1/4 cup green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and arrange the frozen phyllo cups evenly on a baking sheet, allowing them enough space for even baking.
  2. Prepare Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with finely chopped dried cranberries, seeded and minced jalapeños, thinly sliced green onions, garlic powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Fill Phyllo Cups: Spoon the cream cheese mixture carefully into each phyllo cup, filling them just below the rim for a neat presentation.
  4. Add Cheese Topping: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese generously on top of each filled phyllo cup to add a rich, melted finish.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until the cheese on top is melted and bubbly and the phyllo cups are golden and crisp.
  6. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the bites cool for about 5 minutes to set before serving them warm to enjoy the blend of flavors and textures.

Notes

  • Be sure to seed the jalapeños to control the heat level.
  • For added texture, you can sprinkle a few chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts on top before baking.
  • If cream cheese isn’t softened enough, microwave it at 10-second intervals until soft for easier mixing.
  • These bites can be prepared a few hours ahead and warmed briefly before serving.
  • Adjust the amount of jalapeño to suit your spice preference.
