A flavorful Ground Beef Hot Honey Bowl featuring roasted sweet potatoes, seasoned lean ground beef, creamy cottage cheese, and sliced avocado, all drizzled with spicy-sweet hot honey for a delicious and balanced meal.

Ingredients

Protein

  • 450 g lean ground beef (93% lean)

Vegetables

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 avocado, sliced

Dairy

  • 240 g cottage cheese (low-fat or full-fat)

Oils & Fats

  • 30 ml olive oil

Spices & Seasonings

  • 1 taco seasoning packet (or 30 ml homemade)
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) hot honey
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Roast Sweet Potatoes: Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F). Toss the diced sweet potatoes with 15 ml olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, ground cinnamon, salt, and black pepper to coat evenly. Spread the sweet potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for 40 to 45 minutes, stirring once halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  2. Sauté Onion and Cook Beef: While the sweet potatoes roast, heat the remaining 15 ml olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until softened and translucent, about 4 to 5 minutes. Add the ground beef along with the taco seasoning and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until the beef is well browned and cooked through—approximately 7 to 10 minutes.
  3. Assemble Bowls: Divide the roasted sweet potatoes evenly among four serving bowls. Top each bowl with the cooked ground beef mixture, sliced avocado, and cottage cheese.
  4. Drizzle and Garnish: Drizzle 2 tablespoons of hot honey over each bowl for a spicy-sweet finish. Optionally, garnish with chopped cilantro, red pepper flakes, or a lime wedge for added freshness and heat.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef (93% lean) to keep the dish lower in fat but still flavorful.
  • Adjust the hot honey amount to your preferred spice level.
  • For a homemade taco seasoning, combine cumin, chili powder, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • This dish can be customized by adding chopped fresh cilantro, red pepper flakes, or a squeeze of lime juice for enhanced flavor.
  • Roasting the sweet potatoes brings out their natural sweetness and adds a nice texture contrast to the creamy cottage cheese and avocado.
