Enjoy a sweet and smoky treat with this Grilled Pineapple recipe. Fresh pineapple slices and spears are brushed with a luscious blend of melted butter, brown sugar, honey, cinnamon, and a touch of salt, then perfectly grilled to caramelized perfection. Serve warm on its own or pair with vanilla ice cream for an irresistible dessert that’s quick and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Pineapple

  • 2 pineapples (peeled and cored)

Sauce

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pineapple: Cut one pineapple into 8 rings by slicing it evenly. For the second pineapple, cut it in half lengthwise, then cut each half lengthwise twice more to create 8 spears.
  2. Preheat the grill: Heat your grill to medium-high, and lightly brush the grate with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Make the sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, honey, ground cinnamon, and salt. Stir until smooth and well blended into a rich sauce.
  4. Brush the pineapple: Using a pastry brush, coat all sides of the pineapple rings and spears generously with the prepared sauce.
  5. Grill the pineapple: Place the pineapple on the hot grill and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side. Before flipping, brush each side again with the sauce. For the rings, rotate them 45 degrees after flipping to create attractive diamond-shaped grill marks.
  6. Serve: Remove the grilled pineapple from the grill and serve warm. It’s delicious on its own or paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent dessert.

Notes

  • Ensure the grill grate is well oiled to prevent the pineapple from sticking.
  • Adjust grilling time slightly based on the thickness of pineapple slices and heat intensity.
  • For a smoky flavor, use a charcoal grill if available.
  • This recipe can be doubled easily for larger gatherings.
  • Grilled pineapple can also be served as a side dish with grilled meats or seafood.
