These Greek Beef Wraps with Garlic Yogurt Sauce offer a delicious and easy-to-make meal featuring lean ground beef seasoned with Mediterranean spices, wrapped in warm pita bread and complemented by a creamy garlic-infused Greek yogurt sauce. Fresh vegetables and crumbled feta cheese add vibrant flavors and textures, making these wraps perfect for a quick lunch or casual dinner.

Ingredients

For the Beef:

  • 500g (1 lb) lean ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Garlic Yogurt Sauce:

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 clove garlic, finely grated
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Pinch of salt

For the Wraps:

  • 4 pita breads or flatbreads
  • ½ cup diced cucumber
  • ½ cup chopped tomatoes
  • ¼ cup thinly sliced red onion
  • ¼ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • Fresh parsley or dill, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add ground beef, dried oregano, ground cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for 7–8 minutes, stirring frequently and breaking up the meat until it is fully browned and cooked through.
  2. Make the Garlic Yogurt Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the plain Greek yogurt, finely grated garlic, fresh lemon juice, olive oil, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Chill briefly in the refrigerator if time allows, to let the flavors meld.
  3. Assemble the Wraps: Warm the pita breads lightly in a dry skillet or microwave until soft and pliable. Spread a generous spoonful of garlic yogurt sauce evenly over each pita. Top each with a portion of the cooked beef, then add diced cucumber, chopped tomatoes, sliced red onion, and crumbled feta cheese. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley or dill. Fold or roll up the wraps and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce fat content while keeping the wraps flavorful.
  • The garlic yogurt sauce can be made a day ahead and refrigerated to deepen the flavors.
  • Warm the pita gently to avoid tearing when assembling the wraps.
  • Feel free to add a drizzle of extra lemon juice or hot sauce for extra zest or heat.
  • The wraps can be customized by adding other vegetables like bell peppers or lettuce for extra crunch.
