Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or beef strips
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Taco Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

For Assembly

  • 6 soft taco tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the unsalted butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  2. Cook the Meat: Add the ground beef or beef strips to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the meat is fully browned and cooked through, about 7–8 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika during cooking.
  3. Add Sauce Ingredients: Stir in the honey and BBQ sauce with the cooked beef. Mix well and cook for an additional 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the meat evenly. Remove from heat.
  4. Make the Taco Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, honey, BBQ sauce, and smoked paprika. Whisk until smooth and set aside for assembly.
  5. Warm the Tortillas: Heat the soft taco tortillas briefly in a dry skillet over medium heat, or wrap them in foil and warm them in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 5 minutes, until pliable.
  6. Assemble the Tacos: Spoon the garlic butter honey BBQ beef mixture evenly onto each tortilla. Drizzle the prepared taco sauce over the meat, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top, and garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
  7. Serve: Serve immediately while warm, allowing the cheese to slightly melt into the saucy beef for maximum flavor.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter protein option.
  • Adjust the amount of honey to control the sweetness according to your preference.
  • For extra spice, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the beef while cooking.
  • Leftover meat can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • To make it gluten-free, use corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas.
