Experience the delightful blend of floral Earl Grey tea infused with sweet cherry and warm vanilla notes in this Cherry Vanilla Earl Grey Tea recipe. This comforting beverage combines simmered fresh cherries, aromatic cinnamon, and smooth milk to create a unique twist on a classic tea, perfect for a cozy morning or an elegant afternoon treat, served hot or iced.

Ingredients

Tea

  • 1 Earl Grey tea bag (or 1 teaspoon loose leaf)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Milk Mixture

  • 1/2 cup milk (any type)
  • 4–5 fresh cherries, pitted and halved
  • 1–2 teaspoons vanilla syrup

Optional

  • Ice (optional for iced version)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cherries: Start by simmering the pitted and halved cherries with 2 tablespoons of water in a small saucepan over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes until the cherries soften. Gently mash them to release their juices and create a flavorful base.
  2. Brew Tea: While the cherries are simmering, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Pour the boiling water over the Earl Grey tea bag or loose leaves and steep for 3 to 5 minutes to extract the aromatic flavors. Remove the tea bag or strain the leaves once brewed.
  3. Heat Milk: Add the milk and the optional cinnamon stick to the saucepan with the softened cherries. Heat gently over low to medium heat, stirring continuously to combine the flavors without boiling the milk.
  4. Combine: Stir the vanilla syrup into the milk and cherry mixture. Pour the brewed Earl Grey tea into a mug, then strain the milk and cherry mixture into the mug, pressing the cherries to extract additional juice. Stir well to meld all the flavors together.
  5. Serve: Enjoy the tea hot immediately. For a chilled version, let the tea cool to room temperature, pour over ice, and optionally garnish with a fresh cherry or a cinnamon stick for added aroma and presentation.

Notes

  • Use fresh cherries for the best flavor, but frozen cherries can be substituted if fresh ones are not available.
  • The vanilla syrup can be adjusted according to sweetness preference or substituted with vanilla extract, using less as it is more concentrated.
  • Adjust milk type to suit dietary preferences such as almond, oat, or lactose-free milk.
  • Do not boil the milk to avoid curdling; gentle heating is key.
  • For a stronger tea flavor, steep the Earl Grey for a full 5 minutes or use two tea bags.
  • Serve immediately when hot to enjoy optimal aroma and flavor.
