Brownie Batter Puppy Chow is a deliciously sweet and crunchy snack mix made by coating Chex cereal with a gooey blend of melted chocolate, peanut butter, and butter, then dusting it with brownie mix and powdered sugar for an irresistible treat.

Ingredients

Snack Mix

  • 6 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Coating

  • 3/4 cup brownie mix
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Melt Chocolate Mixture: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, peanut butter, and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
  2. Add Vanilla: Stir in the vanilla extract into the melted mixture until evenly incorporated.
  3. Coat Cereal: Pour the chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the 6 cups of Rice Chex cereal in a large bowl. Gently stir or fold to ensure all the cereal pieces are evenly coated without breaking them.
  4. Prepare Coating Bag: In a large zip-top bag, combine the brownie mix and powdered sugar. Mix slightly to blend the two powders together.
  5. Coat with Dry Mix: Add the chocolate-coated cereal into the zip-top bag. Seal the bag securely and shake vigorously until every piece of cereal is well-coated with the brownie mix and powdered sugar blend.
  6. Serve or Store: Spread the coated puppy chow on a parchment-lined tray to cool and set if desired, then serve immediately or store in an airtight container for later enjoyment.

Notes

  • Use Rice Chex cereal for the best texture and absorption of the coating.
  • Microwaving in short intervals prevents the chocolate mixture from burning.
  • Ensure the bag is sealed tightly before shaking to prevent mess.
  • This snack can be stored in an airtight container for up to one week.
  • Optional: Add a pinch of salt to balance sweetness if desired.
